A scintillating toe-tapping performance from THE FOCHABERS FIDDLERS, under master musician, James Alexander, ably supported by singers GEORDIE MURISON, BARBARA-ANN BURNETT AND NATALIE CHALMERS, kicked off this year's Doric Festival. SATURDAY 27th September SINGING WORKSHOPS were led off with an excellent presentation from TOM SPIERS (of The Gaugers!) including snippets of recordings of previous traditional singers, followed by singing sessions from Barbara-Ann Burnett. One participant. Lyn,.."Ive' learned so much of where the songs came from and the singers who kept the tradition going." FIDDLE WORKSHOP Dougie Lawrence showed his brilliance as tutor, leaving those who had the foresight to enrol with an in-depth techniques on how to play strathspeys in the NE style "THE DORIC LINTIE" in a well supported and close-run singing Competition MOIRA STEWART was judged willer. |
